Our Privacy Commitment
AquaLedger is built on a simple principle: your fishing data belongs to you, and only you. We've designed the app to work entirely offline with zero data collection on our servers because we don't have any servers for your data.
1. Data Storage
All your information is stored locally on your device:
- Fishing entries, photos, videos, notes: Stored in a SQLite database on your device
- Location data: Saved locally as GPS coordinates, never transmitted externally
- Voice recordings: Stored as audio files on your device storage
- Backups: Created and saved to your device's storage under your control
Important: We literally cannot access your data because it never leaves your device. No accounts, no cloud sync, no data uploads.
2. What We DON'T Collect
- ❌ Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- ❌ Fishing catch data
- ❌ Photos or videos you capture
- ❌ GPS locations of your fishing spots
- ❌ Voice recordings or notes
- ❌ Usage patterns or fishing habits
3. Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services, and they have their own privacy practices:
- Google AdMob: Displays advertisements and may collect anonymous device identifiers for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. AdMob Privacy Policy
- Open-Meteo Weather API: Fetches weather data based on GPS coordinates you choose. No personal data is sent. Open-Meteo Terms

4. Permissions Explained
AquaLedger requests these permissions for functionality:
- 📷 Camera: Required to take photos and videos of your catches
- 🎤 Microphone: Required for voice note recordings
- 📍 Location: Used only to fetch weather data and mark fishing spot locations (stored locally)
- 💾 Storage: Required to save photos, videos, voice notes, and backup files
You can revoke any permission at any time through your device settings. The app will continue to work with reduced functionality.
5. Advertising
To keep AquaLedger free, we display ads through Google AdMob:
- Banner ads on the home screen
- Interstitial ads before certain actions (backup creation, media exports, sharing)
- Ads may use cookies and anonymous device identifiers
- You can control ad personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads)
6. Children's Privacy
AquaLedger is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has used the app, please contact us.
7. Data Security
Your responsibility:
- Protect your device with a lock screen password/PIN/biometric
- Create regular backups using the in-app backup feature
- Keep backup files secure (don't share publicly)
- Use Android's built-in encryption features
8. Data Portability
Your data is always yours:
- Export backups: Create full database backups anytime (Settings → Backup)
- Export media: Download individual photos/videos to your gallery
- Transfer devices: Move backups to new devices and restore
- Delete everything: Uninstalling the app removes all local data
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. Updates will be posted here with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use means you accept the changes.
10. International Users
AquaLedger works globally because everything is offline. No data crosses borders because no data leaves your device. GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations are automatically satisfied.
